Excellent review. Excellent playing. Excellent amplifier. Had a '09 Fender American Standard Strat (SSS), '06 Gibson Les Paul '56 Goldtop VOS (P90s) that sounded excellent through the 2010 BDRI that I had. Had to let them go. My classical guitar sounded good through it too. Both the stock speaker (not Jenson) and a Celestion Gold sounded good through the BDRI. I had three FX pedals 1. Fulltone Full Drive MOSFET 2. Boss EQ 3. L.R. Baggs Paracoustic DI (for classical) Wanted to try out some Reverb pedals but never got around to it. The BDRI is an excellent compromise amplifier out of the box with tons of mods and hacks to be found across the internet. If you're primarily into clean tones and want some versatile with pedals to find your sound, it's really not a bad choice at all. An excellent choice for those thinning out their amp collection, and want to simplify. For the record, I am also a fan of the Fender '65 Princeton Reverb, Supro Delta King 12 (1x6l6), Supro Delta King 10 (1x6v6), Fishman Loudbox Artist and Roland JC-120, and a modified 60s Console stereo (2xEL84) power section.... and one rare amp that has a unique sound to it. Would be nice if they could produce an FX pedal that models that specific sound. Conclusion, imho, what I think would be the best and perfect amp does not exist to my knowledge. But if it did, it would be a recording studio hybrid of the best vintage circuits in a U Rack mount chassis to save space and consist of both tube and solid state preamps and power amp sections that are separated from each other, with a universal interface that allows for inter-circuit connectivity that can help the artist and sound engineer find the best possible sound. The size of this imaginary 19inch rack is as big as the imagination. The ever elusive golden tone is what it is. When you have arrived at that point when you stop searching for happiness, you"ll find it. Just like when you find your lost keys.

I came to the same conclusion for myself. I have a vintage Super Reverb and Blues Deluxe as my absolute favorite amps for the Strat. I put a Jensen P12Q in the Blues Deluxe (Fender has done this in certain FSR models and the speaker can handle 40 watts). That reduced the volume 6dbl and makes it sound a little closer to a tweed amp.

Beautiful rendition, I can hear the classic Mike Stern licks and chord changes but there is also something really original going on.
